Meet The Team

Hi Iain here – Welcome to the greenkeeping team. We are a highly qualified team with a variety of skills and specialisms in turf management, landscaping, fertiliser application and engine maintenance. Myself, I’ve been green keeping for 31 years and was the youngest head greenkeeper by a long margin when given the post in 1998. Prior to Bangor I was deputy head at Clandeboye GC and before that, as a youngster, worked at Shandon park gc.

I’ve gathered a lot of relevant qualifications over the years, including qualifications from Greenmount in sports turf management (top student in my year!), technical spraying certs and chainsaw licenses. Turf management science is developing continually and I’m currently studying for a Foundation degree in sports turf/horticulture with a view to gaining a BSC.  Outside Bangor Golf Club I’m married with 4 kids and interested in all sorts of things from horticulture to motorbikes. I enjoy every day on the golf course as my first love is turf culture. I have been very lucky throughout my career, greenkeeping has taken me to many parts of the world and I feel I’m only just getting going.

Alan Mckee – deputy course manager.

Started working at the club in 1999.

Alan was previously at Clandeboye Golf Club for 2years.

He is fully qualified to level 3.

He is a keen angler, motorbike fan and mid handicap golfer.

 

 

 

Daniel McMillan. – green keeper.

Started in Bangor Golf Club back in 1999.

He is qualified to level 2.

He is a keen darts player, football fan and golfer.

 

 

 

 

James McCready

Our mechanic, James fixes everything the staff breaks !!

Fully qualified and factory trained.

Started 2013 having previously been with us for 7 years.

He is married with two kids taking up what spare time he has.

 

 

 

 

JAMIE MCMEECHAN

Jamie started at Bangor in 2013, initially working part time. During the summer of 2017 he became a full time member of staff.

He has attended  Greenmount College and has gained his NVQ 2.

He is aslo a member of the club.  His interests are running, swimming and cars.

 

 

 

REECE GREEN

Reece is the latest addition to the green keeping staff, having started at Bangor in  July 2017. Previoulsy he was working as a summer greenkeeping support at Malone Golf club.  He is also studying at Greenmount College.

His interests are going to the gym, boxing and cars.
